Richmond Rugby Club

RICHMOND RUGBY CLUB WERE PROMOTED TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 2016/2017 SEASON. IT IS THE ONLY CLUB IN THE DIVISION TO RETAIN SEMI-PROFESSIONAL STATUS FOR ALL ITS PLAYERS. THE FIRST TEAM PITCH HAS A STAND CAPABLE OF SEATING AROUND 1,000 SPECTATORS, THOUGH IN THE PAST, TEMPORARY STANDS HAVE BEEN ERECTED IN THE CONSIDERABLE SPACE AROUND THE PITCH TO BOOST THE SEATING CAPACITY.

The site team were using license-free radios which were old and they didn’t have enough of them to circulate to all necessary staff members. They were originally purchased from marshall_croppedSmye-Rumsby so they were confident about receiving good quality replacements.

Account Manager Mike Syrett met with Carly Chapman (Office Manager) to discuss the replacement radios. He suggested the Hytera PD505. The digital functionality of this radio improved the communications across the site, and even on the outskirts of the ground.

“Michael was a big help. He came down to meet me almost immediately, and showed me the different types of radios that we could utilise. Our main reason for purchasing more radios was because we not only needed to increase quantities but improve quality, with an added emphasis on health and safety requirements and regulations. The radios are used for operational purposes on match days so the RFC officials can contact each other, as well as alerting the doctor or physio when injuries occur.”

THE RESULT

“Both myself and my staff are delighted with the new Hytera radios. Their compact and stylish design makes for easy carrying and general day-to-day use. These radios are extremely user-friendly! Originally, we were using headsets with boom mics, but we have now reverted to using Hytera ‘D’ shape earpieces with in-line PTT (push-to-talk). They prove much more discrete than the previous equipment and far less cumbersome. With the support given by Smye-Rumsby we now have a radio communication system that not only meets all expectations but enables all operational staff to be assured of achieving maximum site coverage.”
