Smye-Rumsby has been serving TW services for more than a decade. Over the years their radio communication system has been streamlined, developed and upgraded. When we first met with TW Services they had been using a country-wide radio network which was failing to meet their needs. An alternative was required to enable fleet operations to work efficiently.
After intensive consultation with TW Services, the Smye-Rumsby team were able to provide a solution. Smye-rumsby has now installed a network of radio repeaters to give blanket coverage in the South East. The new digital radio system not only provides TW Services with clear communications throughout their fleet but also provides GPS tracking for all their vehicles, encompassing both voice and data communication.
Much clearer communication & wider coverage. Smye Rumsby continue to strive to improve the TW network by adding additional mast sites to extend coverage further afield. As TW services develop and grow, Smye-Rumsby implement the necessary communication equipment to meet the demand and continues to provide the support needed to allow them to compete in this very tough market.

Construction of TW’s latest recycling facility in Sandwich is now complete, having commenced in February. This has seen us develop 10 acres of land, 300m north of our current facility into an aggregate and soil processing and recycling operation. The first stages saw site set up and ground stabilisation including the drilling and concreting a large number of piles to provide a strong foundation for the whole site. Unbelievably, a total of 40,000 tonnes of recycled stone has been used in the ground remediation and in true TW style we have recovered and recycled every ounce of material ourselves and it has all been recycled from other people’s waste. Once all of the ground works were completed, the site boundaries and fencing were erected and construction commenced on items such as the weighbridge, material storage bays and operational recycling areas. A relatively quick build project, the works will finish in July and followed by the commissioning phases being undertaken by TW staff. Utility connections have been somewhat testing to say the least! We now have water and power but are still waiting for the eight wonder of the world (BT) to complete one of the three separate orders that we have placed since February for phone lines. The next phase on site will see the installation of a new soil washing plant which will be fully operational by May 2015. Once operational it will offer a bespoke operation to process an additional 250,000 tonnes of inert material per annum into recovered aggregate products.
“To say we’re excited about this new plant is an understatement!”
"Smye Rumsby have been supplying us with a Radio System for many years now and have recently upgraded us to a digital system tailored to our requirements and budget. The communication between our base, vehicles and plant is now incredibly clear as well as covering a much wider area after Smye-Rumsby erected a mast at The Port Of London to cover our ever growing operating area into London, Essex and Surrey. Their on-site installation and maintenance service has been second to none and I would happily recommend them to anybody looking for and excellent communication alternative to telephones.
